Nimesulide attenuates microglia and astrocyte activation in MIA-treated rats. A: Repeated administration of nimesulide (10 mg.kg-1; days 14-20) significantly attenuated MIA-induced increases in Iba-1 positive activated microglia in the ipsilateral dorsal horn on day 21 and day 28, compared to vehicle-treated rats. B: Repeated administration of nimesulide (10 mg.kg-1; days 14-20) did not alter GFAP immunofluorescence on day 21. Nimesulide treatment did, however, significantly attenuate MIA-induced increases in GFAP immunofluorescence in the ipsilateral dorsal horn at day 28, compared to vehicle-treated rats.
