Intraplantar carrageenan does not result in significant reduction in lumbar spinal occludin protein. Intraplantar carrageenan does not result in the reduction of spinal occludin protein at 72 hours post-carrageenan in male and female rats as compared to vehicle, but this is detected after intrathecal LPS.
