Inhibitory effects of riluzole administered into the amygdala (CeA) in arthritic rats. Stereotaxic administration of riluzole (1 mM, concentration in the microdialysis probe, 15 min) into the CeA of arthritic rats (n = 8 rats; 5 h postinduction) significantly inhibited audible (a) and ultrasonic (b) vocalizations evoked by noxious stimulation of the knee joint compared to predrug values.
