In the lower panels, note the virtually complete depletion of IB4 staining (in red), except in the lateral third of the dorsal horn, that does not receive sciatic afferents. It is important to note that although IB4-saporin binds to non-peptidergic fibers, a slight reduction of CGRP immunoreactivity (in green) in the area of the lesion was noticeable when compared to sham.
